2016 HONDA HRV Crossover Review and Specs

February 23, 2015

New 2016 Honda HRV will deliver sharp style, competitive features and a spirited driving character. It promises to be one of the top subcompact crossovers.

2016 HONDA HRV Interior and Exterior

We have definitely entered into small car’s era. Based on the redesigned Fit hatchback, the 2016 Honda HRV will offer added room for people and cargo without the size of a traditional compact crossover. It also features the “Magic Seat”. This is meant to fold and flip the second-row seat to open up more configuration possibilities and lots of storage space. Behind the front seats, it should have 58.8 cubic feet of storage space (or 24.3 cubic feet behind the second-row seat). Interior is youthful and sophisticated and provides real pleasure while driving.

Model will be offered in LX, EX and EX-L trims. Standard equipment includes alloy wheels, full power accessories, a rearview camera. Off course there is Bluetooth phone connectivity and Pandora Internet radio and many other popular features. Safety is also very important in this model. It has antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front-side airbags, etc.

2016 HONDA HRV Engine

The 2016 Honda HRV might share the Fit’s chassis. Under the hood it borrows the Civics’ 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. It’s rated at 138 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque (slightly less than it produces in the Civic). Features on upper trims include keyless entry and ignition, a sunroof, heated front seats. Also coming with leather upholstery, satellite and HD radio. Fully integrated navigation system and a 7-inch touchscreen display is incorporated too.

The four-cylinder will pair with either a continuously variable transmission (CVT) or a six-speed manual. Shifting gears yourself might quicken the HRV a tick. You can get the manual with front-wheel drive only. All-wheel drive is also an option. It works by operating in front-wheel-drive mode until the car senses slippage and sends power to the rear wheels to maintain traction. Among its competitors  this model’s fuel economy stays on top.

2016 HONDA HRV Price and Release Date

2016 Honda HRV goes on sale in the spring of 2015. Pricing will be announced soon. We suppose that base model is likely to start from $20,000. There is rumor about sportier, turbocharged version to follow the standard model. Also hybrid model is possible for the U.S. if initial sales are strong.
